Lot 743: A Casala and Skovby Style Extending Dining Table and a Set of Matching Dining Chairs
A contemporary dining suite of late 20th-century design, comprising an oval extending dining table and a set of matching high-back chairs. The table features an oval top finished in a cherry-toned wood veneer, accented with a contrasting dark wood stringing inlay forming a border. The top is centrally divided to accommodate an extending mechanism. The table is supported by a central pedestal base which terminates in four splayed legs. The matching chairs feature a high-back design with seven vertical slats and a gently curved top rail. Each chair is fitted with a padded seat upholstered in a terracotta-coloured fabric. The wooden corner braces of the chair frames bear the incised maker mark CASALA. The table design and construction are consistent with manufacturers such as Skovby.
Condition report:
The suite appears in good used condition. There are minor surface scratches and light scuffs to the wood finish, particularly around the table edges and chair legs, consistent with domestic use. The upholstery appears generally clean with no significant staining or tears visible. Extension leaves for the table are not present.
