Lot 772: A 20th Century Jacobean Style Oak Side Table
A 20th-century side table constructed from solid oak in the Jacobean revival style. The piece features a rectangular solid oak top with visible wooden peg joinery at the corners. The base consists of four turned baluster-form legs joined by a low perimeter box stretcher. The top has a light natural finish, while the base is finished in a contrasting dark stain. There are several temporary paper labels attached to the top surface, including one handwritten label reading 810 1 odd table oak top and printed labels numbered 772 and 855. No permanent manufacturer marks or stamps are present.
Condition report:
The table exhibits signs of heavy use and wear. There is a prominent circular water stain to the centre of the top surface along with various smaller marks and scratches. The dark finish on the legs and stretchers shows significant scuffing, chipping, and areas of finish loss, particularly around the feet. The contrasting finishes between the top and base suggest the top may have been stripped or refinished.
