Lot 818: Mid-20th Century Formica and Beech Kitchen Table
A mid-20th century rectangular kitchen or utility table of simple, functional design. The piece features a light-coloured hardwood frame and legs, likely beech, supporting a fixed rectangular top. The surface is finished with a grey mottled laminate, commonly referred to as Formica, which is inset within a rounded wooden border. The table is supported by four tapered legs that transition from a square-section profile at the apron to a rounded profile at the feet. No manufacturer marks, stamps, or labels are present on the visible surfaces of the frame or underside. A small white adhesive auction lot sticker bearing the printed numerals 818 is attached to the front edge of the table.
Condition report:
The table is in used, as-found condition. The laminate top exhibits surface marking, light scratches, and general wear consistent with age and domestic utility. The wooden frame and legs show various scuffs, scratches, and light staining, particularly concentrated on the lower sections of the legs.
