Lot 928: An Assortment of Walking Sticks, Spectator Seats, and Umbrellas with a Turned Wood Stand
This collection comprises various walking aids and outdoor accessories. It includes a natural wood souvenir walking stick with a crook handle, adorned with several metal souvenir badges (Stocknägel) for locations including Canterbury Cathedral, Shanklin Old Village, Land’s End, Exmoor, Remagen, Boppard a. Rh., and Innsbruck, along with two silver-tone relief badges depicting stag heads. The lot features a three-legged folding spectator seat with a grey-painted tubular metal frame and a tan-coloured padded vinyl seat, marked MADE IN ENGLAND on the underside. Also present is a single-leg shooting stick, in the style of a Venator hunting stool, featuring a polished aluminium frame, a stitched brown leather sling seat, and a brown-painted metal shaft fitted with a ground plate and spike. The assortment includes several umbrellas: a purple folding umbrella, a blue and white patterned umbrella, and an umbrella with a white decorative plastic handle featuring a moulded floral motif. The items are housed in a modern circular turned wood stand with a light oak-style varnish, featuring six spindles and a drip tray base.
Condition report:
The items are in used condition. The souvenir walking stick shows surface scuffs and wear to the varnish consistent with age and use. The folding spectator seat shows signs of frequent use, including paint loss and scuffing to the metal frame and light wear to the seat material. The shooting stick has notable scuffs to the shaft paint and moderate wear and darkening to the leather sling. The wooden stand is in good condition, and the umbrellas are in functional, used condition.
