Lot 933: A Mid-Century Modern Beech Armchair with Red Upholstery

The auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £8

Estimated price: £12

Buyer's Premium:

A mid-20th-century armchair of modernist design, likely of British manufacture. The frame is constructed from light-coloured wood, possibly beech, featuring characteristic swept-back curved arms and four square-tapered legs. The arms are secured to the frame with through-bolt construction. The chair is fully upholstered in a red textured fabric with a wide-wale corduroy or ribbed chenille finish. The lot includes a loose tapestry-style cushion decorated with a unicorn and floral motifs. No manufacturer marks or labels are visible; a white auction lot sticker numbered 116 is present on the right arm.

Condition report:

The wooden frame shows significant signs of wear, including considerable loss of finish, surface scuffing, and discoloration, particularly to the armrests and legs. The red upholstery appears intact but requires professional cleaning. The tapestry cushion shows signs of heavy use, including creasing and wear to the fabric.
