Lot 967: An Art Nouveau Oak Single Door Wardrobe
An Art Nouveau oak single door wardrobe, dating from the early 20th century. The piece is constructed from oak, with quartersawn grain and medullary ray flecks visible to the interior side panels. The central door is fitted with a large, rectangular bevelled mirror plate and is flanked by panels featuring relief-carved stylised floral motifs. The wardrobe features a simple moulded cornice and a single full-width drawer at the base, supported by an arcaded plinth. The interior provides an open hanging space. Hardware includes copper-toned metal circular drop-ring pulls on shaped backplates and corresponding keyholes. A handwritten lot sticker on the mirror reads: ART NOUVEAU OAK WARDROBE 13. This is a single-piece unit.
Condition report:
The wardrobe exhibits wear consistent with age and use. There are minor scuffs and surface marks to the oak timber, particularly around the base and plinth. The bevelled mirror plate appears to be in good condition without significant foxing. The copper-toned hardware shows natural patination.
