Lot 1023: A Trio of Framed Postcard Collages Featuring French Poster Art, Alpine Tourism, and Portuguese Architecture
A collection of three framed sets containing miniature reproductions of vintage postcards and posters. Each frame contains four individual prints professionally mounted against a dark grey card background. The first frame displays Belle Époque French advertising art, including works by Auguste Roedel for the Moulin Rouge Grande Redoute, Théophile Steinlen for Motocycles Comiot, and Jules Chéret for the Bal du Moulin Rouge, alongside a De Dion-Bouton automobile advertisement. The second frame focuses on French Alpine tourism for the Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée railway, featuring winter sports, skiing, and landscapes in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc and the Montenvers Mer de Glace rack railway. The third frame depicts Portuguese architectural elements and decorative arts, including blue and white azulejo tile panels showing rural scenes and fountains, a Manueline-style window frame, and a traditional doorway set in green glazed tiles. The prints are modern commercial reproductions of late 19th and early 20th-century designs. Each set is housed in a matching stained wooden frame with a gilt inner slip and protected by glass.
Each frame approximately 45 cm x 35 cm; individual postcards approximately 10 cm x 15 cm.
Condition report:
The paper prints appear in good condition with no visible foxing, staining, or tears. The colours remain bright. The frames are in good structural condition with minor shelf wear and light surface abrasions to the wood. The glass and mounts are clean.
