Lot 120: A Collection of Late Victorian and Edwardian Two-Tone Salt-Glazed Stoneware
An assortment of British domestic stoneware featuring a variety of utilitarian vessels. The collection includes several storage jars of graduated sizes, each finished with a characteristic two-tone salt glaze consisting of a honey-brown upper section over a buff-coloured body. Two larger storage crocks of ovoid form are present, featuring integrated lug handles; one displays a decorative rouletted beaded band at the shoulder. Also included is a small, narrow-necked off-white stoneware bottle, typically used for ink or ginger beer. Several jars exhibit similar rouletted decorative bands below the rim. No maker’s marks or capacity stamps are visible on the exterior surfaces. These items are in the style of late 19th to early 20th-century manufacturers such as Pearson and Co. of Chesterfield or Doulton Lambeth.
