Lot 198: A Japanese Style Cast Iron Koi Fish Hanging Garden Lantern
A decorative garden lantern in the form of a koi fish, produced in the style of a Japanese tsuridoro. The object is manufactured from cast iron with a granular surface texture typical of sand-casting. The central body is designed with an openwork lattice pattern to represent scales and allow for the emission of light from an internal source. The fish features large circular eyes and a prominent dorsal fin fitted with a wire hanging loop. The tail section and lower fins are separate components attached to the main body via metal pins to allow for articulation. No maker marks, stamps, or signatures are present on the piece.
