Lot 858: an Assortment of Books including the standard dictionary
A wooden bed frame component, possibly a headboard or footboard, featuring a polished dark-stained mahogany finished wood surface and mid-century design characteristics. Accompanying the component is a mattress or mattress topper, which remains sealed in protective plastic wrapping hand-marked with the word Double. The lot further includes an assortment of books, notably an antiquarian copy of Nuttall’s Standard Dictionary of the English Language (National Edition), revised by the Rev. James Wood, bound in a red cloth-covered hardback with gold-toned lettering. This volume includes sections for etymologies, pronunciations, definitions, technical terms, and illustrations. Also present are a hardback edition of The Green Gauntlet by R. F. Delderfield with its original pictorial dust jacket, and a large-format pictorial book titled In Focus published by Colour Library Books, featuring a foreword by Alan Whicker.
