Lot 865: A Jacobean Revival Oak Hall Stand with Integral Writing Slope
An early 20th-century dark oak hall stand in the Jacobean Revival style. The piece features a central writing slope or glove box with a slanted, hinged lid, opening to an undivided interior compartment. The superstructure includes an arched top rail between two square-section uprights surmounted by bun finials. The front supports are turned in a barley-twist design, while the rear supports are of square section. The base is constructed with two square apertures intended for umbrella or walking stick drip trays. The unit is finished in a dark stain. Modern auction labels are adhered to the lid, including one for Liskeard Auction Rooms, Lot 865. No other maker’s marks or stamps are present.
