Lot 394: An Assortment of Vintage British Pub Spirit Optics and Barware including Captain Morgan and Schweppes
This collection of vintage barware consists of an assortment of mid-to-late 20th-century British pub spirit measures, commonly known as optics, and related accessories. The lot features several branded optics, notably a square-headed Captain Morgan The Original Rum measure for 25ml pours and two white plastic dispensers bearing the Schweppes logo. Other optics include units marked with Buchanan’s, Linney, Ravenhead, and Unic Spirit Measure branding. The optics are constructed from chrome-plated metal, clear plastic, and cream-coloured moulded plastic, many retaining their original cork bottle stoppers.
The lot further includes a decorative Absolut Mango vodka bottle encased in a metal harness featuring two blue-painted metal fish figurines. Breweriana interest is represented by a glass tankard with blue Harp brewery lettering and a small rectangular stand or box featuring the Younger’s Tartan Mild character and logo. A collection of loose corks, additional bottle stoppers, and a chrome-plated corkscrew are also present. The items are housed in a Fyffes Gold cardboard fruit box bearing labels from Liskeard Auction Rooms, including lot number 394 and handwritten reference 3028.
