Lot 1077: A Primitive Handcrafted Rustic High-Back Armchair
A single handcrafted folk art armchair of substantial proportions, constructed from a combination of reclaimed and naturally shaped timbers. The design features a tall, vertical backrest likely repurposed from a structural beam, which retains three large, square-cut mortise holes. The armrests are fashioned from naturally gnarled and curved branches, joined to the backrest and front legs with visible pegged tenon joints. The seat is formed from thick, roughly shaped timber slats. The chair stands on four branch-style legs, with the rear legs extending from the main backrest timber and the front legs connected by a simple horizontal stretcher. The wood displays a weathered, natural finish with significant texture. A paper auction label for Liskeard Auction Rooms, marked Lot 1077, is attached to the upper edge of the backrest.
