Lot 801: A Late 20th Century Vernacular Plywood Toy Box
A vernacular wooden storage chest or toy box constructed from plywood panels. The exterior sides are finished with a dark stain, while the top of the lid features a lighter-toned wood veneer with a prominent grain. The lid is attached to the main body by two brass-toned metal butt hinges. The top of the lid features the name MARCUS applied in large black block letters. The underside of the lid bears handwritten inscriptions in black ink including a heart symbol and the names Gareth and J. Kenward. The front panel features several worn and degraded stickers related to the Ghostbusters franchise, including the Ecto-1 vehicle and the classic logo. The chest is of simple box construction with butt joints and lacks handles or a locking mechanism. It currently bears a Liskeard Auction Rooms lot label.
