Lot 177: Victorian Style Ornate Wrought Iron Pedestrian Gate
A rectangular pedestrian gate or decorative railing panel constructed from wrought iron. The piece features six horizontal rails enclosed within a primary frame. The design is centred by a decorative motif consisting of four symmetrically arranged C-scrolls. One vertical edge is further embellished with three larger, outwardly-turned scrolls. The top rail is fitted with a square-section horizontal sliding bar mechanism. The scrolls are formed from flattened iron bars, typical of traditional British blacksmithing techniques. The item currently bears a contemporary paper auction tag from Skelf Auction Rooms.
