Lot 194: A Vintage Cast Iron Counterbalance Kitchen Scale
A vintage counter-top balance scale constructed from black-painted cast iron. The instrument features a central balance beam mechanism supported by a heavy base with two circular, tiered feet connected by a central bridge. One end of the beam carries a flat, octagonal platform, while the opposite end is fitted with a four-point cradle designed to support a removable weighing pan. The central bridge of the base is cast with the raised inscription TO WEIGH 7 lb, indicating the maximum weighing capacity.
