Lot 692: A set of four late Victorian style mahogany dining chairs
A set of four dining chairs in the late Victorian or Edwardian style, constructed from mahogany or a similar dark-stained hardwood. The chairs feature rectangular backs with reeded top rails situated above an upholstered central panel and a reeded lower splat. Each chair is supported by turned and ring-moulded front legs, with square-section, slightly splayed rear legs. The upholstery consists of a salmon-pink and cream damask fabric with a large-scale floral and foliate pattern, finished with a decorative coordinating gimp trim. A contemporary auction lot sticker for Liskeard Auction Rooms, Lot 692, is affixed to the reverse of one chair. No original manufacturer marks or labels were identified.
