Lot 698: Antique Upright Castle Style Wooden Spinning Wheel A/F
An antique wooden spinning wheel of an upright or castle design. The piece is primarily constructed from turned wood, exhibiting a naturally aged patina. It features a large drive wheel with multiple turned spokes radiating from a central hub, supported by a vertical frame. The assembly includes a flyer with metal hooks, a bobbin containing remnants of yellow yarn, and a matching distaff. The base incorporates a treadle mechanism with wooden rods and a footplate. A white adhesive auction label from Liskeard Auction Rooms is present on the frame, identifying it as Lot 698. The construction utilises traditional pegged joints and turned decorative elements on the uprights and spokes.
