Lot 802: Tudor Revival Style Carved Oak Dresser and Plate Rack
A mid-20th-century dark-stained oak dresser and plate rack in the Tudor Revival style, characteristic of manufacturers such as Wood Bros or Jaycee. The piece is of two-part construction, featuring a removable upper plate rack with three open shelves, each with integrated plate-support grooves and scalloped side supports. The upper cornice is decorated with a series of arched cut-out details. The base unit contains three frieze drawers with scroll-carved motifs and wooden knob handles; the central drawer is partitioned and lined with green baize for cutlery storage. Below the drawers are two cupboard doors featuring carved linenfold-style panels. The interior of the base is partially finished with a patterned decorative paper lining. No manufacturer’s marks are visible; a handwritten inventory number 2825 is present on a contemporary white sticker attached to the top surface of the base.
Standard proportions for a medium-sized domestic dresser.
