Lot 832: A Traditional Twin-Pedestal Desk and a Cast in Style Ceiling-Mounted Clothes Airer
Lot 831 is a traditional twin-pedestal desk, likely dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, constructed from a medium-toned hardwood. The rectangular top is inset with a maroon-coloured leather lining featuring a gold-tooled decorative border. The desk base consists of two pedestals, each containing a series of drawers fitted with traditional metal drop handles, all resting on plinth bases with decorative corner brackets. Lot 832 is a ceiling-mounted pulley-style clothes airer by Cast in Style. The unit comprises two decorative white-painted cast-metal brackets, each featuring an oval cartouche inscribed with the words CAST IN STYLE, supporting four long circular-profile wooden laths. A length of frayed white pulley rope is still attached to one of the brackets.
