Lot 844: A Small Georgian-Style Mahogany Chest of Three Drawers
This small chest of drawers, of bachelor chest proportions, is designed in the Georgian taste and likely dates to the mid-to-late 20th century. The piece is constructed with mahogany veneers to the rectangular top and the fronts of the three full-width drawers. The top features a moulded edge, and the drawer fronts are decorated with applied mouldings that create a recessed panel effect. Each drawer is fitted with a pair of circular brass-tone metal ring pulls featuring decorative floral rosette backplates. The chest is raised on four turned and reeded tapered legs. Drawer construction is machine-made, and the interiors are composed of a stained secondary wood. The item retains two labels: a printed sticker for Liskeard Auction Rooms identifying it as Lot 844, and a handwritten paper label reading Small 3 Drawer Chest + Oak Nest of Tables 13.
