Lot 387: Two 20-Litre Steel Military Fuel Containers
This lot comprises two 20-litre steel fuel containers of the traditional three-handle military design, popularly known as Jerry cans. The first container is finished in olive drab paint and is embossed with 20L. The central recessed panel features a circular logo for the manufacturer Gelo, appearing as the letters S and G intertwined above the name GELO. This can also bears hand-painted identification marks in blue, reading WRM. The second container is a British military issue example, clearly embossed with the Broad Arrow or Pheon symbol, identifying it as British Government property. It is dated 1976 and features the manufacturer marks SSC over CPW in the central panel, identifying it as a product of the Steel Barrel Co. Ltd. of Uxbridge. Both containers feature the standard cam-action closure mechanisms.
