Lot 651: An Edwardian Style Mahogany Armchair with Botanical Motif Upholstery
A single Edwardian-style armchair constructed from mahogany or a mahogany-stained hardwood. The frame features a rectangular upholstered back and seat, with open arms terminating in small upholstered pads supported by ring-turned uprights. The chair is raised on ring-turned front legs and slightly splayed square-section rear legs. The frame appears to be of standard mortise and tenon construction. The chair has been professionally reupholstered in a contemporary woven jacquard fabric featuring a botanical branch and leaf motif in shades of teal, taupe, and cream. The upholstery is finished with antique-effect brass-toned decorative nailhead trim. Visible markings include a contemporary Liskeard Auction Rooms label for Lot 651 and a circular pink sticker with the handwritten number 32. There are no original manufacturer stamps or labels visible on the exterior of the frame.
