Lot 53: A Victorian Style Brass and Cast Iron Fireplace Suite
A Victorian style fireplace suite comprising a pair of fire dogs and a set of fire tools. The items are constructed from a combination of brass and cast iron. Each fire dog is designed with a rectangular cast iron base featuring an embossed geometric star motif, supporting upright brass posts topped with ribbed globular finials and joined by a cylindrical crossbar. The companion set includes a pair of tongs, a shovel with a flared blade, a hearth brush, and a poker, all featuring matching brass handles with decorative knops and finials. No maker’s marks are visible. One fire dog bears a lot label marked Lot 053.
