Lot 86: Antique Cast Iron Kitchen Balance Scale with 7lb Capacity
An antique kitchen balance scale of Beranger-style construction, manufactured in cast iron with a black painted finish. The central bridge features cast-in raised lettering reading TO WEIGHT 7lb. The balance mechanism is mounted atop two flared pedestal supports connected by a central base. One side of the instrument is fitted with an octagonal platform intended for weights, while the other side features a four-point cross-shaped support designed to hold a weighing pan. The design is characteristic of British domestic scales from the late Victorian or early Edwardian period.
