Lot 439: A Royal Doulton iridescent lustre glazed ceramic vase with autumnal leaf decoration
A globular Royal Doulton ceramic vase featuring a short, waisted neck and a flared rim. The exterior body is decorated with an autumnal leaf pattern rendered in shades of ochre, orange, and green against a dark blue ground. The surface is finished with a lustrous iridescent glaze displaying a peacock-like colour shift through blue, green, and purple hues. The interior of the vase is finished with a pale yellow crackle glaze. The base of the vase bears a printed factory mark consisting of a lion standing upon a crown above a circular monogram of four interlocking letters D, surrounded by the words ROYAL DOULTON and ENGLAND. This mark was used by the factory from 1902 onwards.
