Lot 443: A set of eight Royal Staffordshire Tonquin pattern earthenware plates by Clarice Cliff
A set of eight circular earthenware plates featuring a red transfer-printed Tonquin pattern. The decoration comprises a central landscape scene depicting a building or folly surrounded by trees and a river, framed by a dense floral and foliate border. The plates have a slightly scalloped rim. The reverse of each plate is marked with a red transfer-printed backstamp reading TONQUIN, Royal Staffordshire Dinnerware by Clarice Cliff, MADE IN ENGLAND, VITRIFIED.
