Lot 669: Vintage Egyptian Revival Embossed Leather Photograph Album
A vintage cord-bound photograph album featuring decorative Egyptian-themed covers. The dark brown leather boards are heavily embossed and tooled with motifs inspired by Ancient Egyptian iconography. The front cover displays a profile portrait of a pharaoh wearing a nemes headdress alongside a standing deity, likely Isis or Hathor, holding a staff. The central panel includes stylized hieroglyphic characters and a djed pillar. The reverse cover features a more complex series of registers depicting musicians playing a harp, figures in procession, a winged scarab, obelisks, and architectural pylons. The album is bound with a leather thong threaded through punch holes on the left margin. The construction utilizes a turnover edge over stiff boards. Internally, the album contains original black paper leaves designed for mounting photographs. The pages are currently empty of photographs but retain numerous adhesive photo corners from previous use.
