Lot 766: A mid-20th-century Chinese relief-carved camphor wood chest
A mid-20th-century Chinese carved camphor wood chest of rectangular form. The exterior is decorated with deep relief-carved panels to the lid and front, depicting traditional Chinese landscape scenes with figures, pagodas, and bridges amongst pine trees and mountains. The central scenes are enclosed within borders of carved floral and foliate decoration. The chest is fitted with a circular brass lock plate and stands on carved bracket feet. The interior of the chest is lined with light-coloured wood consistent with camphor. Two temporary auction lot labels are attached, marked 766 and S 766.
