Lot 941: A Set of Four Late Victorian Jacobean Revival Style Carved Oak Dining Chairs
A set of four dining side chairs in the Jacobean Revival style, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. Each chair is constructed from dark stained hardwood, likely oak, featuring a high back with a decoratively carved crest rail depicting scrolling foliate and acanthus motifs. Positioned below the crest rail is a horizontal gallery comprising six turned spindles. The uprights are reeded and terminate in turned front legs, while the rear legs are slightly splayed. The fixed padded seats are upholstered in a dark brown grained leatherette or rexine material, finished with a border of brass-coloured upholstery tacks. No maker’s marks are present.
