Lot 1019: RJF, A Set of Four Surrealist Pen and Ink Drawings
This lot comprises a set of four original pen and ink drawings on white wove paper. The compositions feature detailed surrealist and fantastical landscapes incorporating organic, insectoid, and science fiction elements. Three of the drawings are identified by printed titles affixed to the mounts: THE PYXIDIUM, THE QUEEN OF MACROCOSM, and PURE GARDEN. The fourth drawing is untitled. The work titled THE QUEEN OF MACROCOSM features the initials R, J, and F integrated into the drawing within the lower right quadrant. The drawings are executed with fine line work and stippling techniques. Each work is presented in a rimless glass clip frame with a black card internal border. Labels from Liskeard Auction Rooms are present on the glazing.
