Lot 881: George III Style Inlaid Mahogany Flip-Top Card Table
A George III style flip-top card or tea table, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. The table is constructed from mahogany and features flame mahogany veneers. The rectangular top is designed with canted corners, opening to create an octagonal surface supported by a swing-leg mechanism. Decorative elements include boxwood stringing and a crossbanded border to the top. The table is raised on four square tapered legs, each detailed with boxwood stringing and a small rectangular inlaid panel at the shoulder. The legs terminate in brass box casters. Two white adhesive labels are present on the tabletop; one contains handwritten text that is illegible in the images, while the smaller label displays the number 286.
