Lot 897: A Chinese Ming-style Rosewood Side Chair
A Chinese Ming-style side chair constructed from a dense, reddish-brown hardwood. The chair features a high back with a curved yoke top rail and a central vertical splat. The splat is decorated with a central carved circular medallion depicting a traditional longevity symbol. The square seat is formed from a recessed panel within a mitred frame. It is supported by four straight, square-section legs joined by peripheral stretchers. Traditional mortise and tenon joinery is used throughout. An auction label from Liskeard Auction Rooms for Lot 897 is present on the back, bearing the handwritten notes 2865, Oriental Chair, and Grey Chair. A small white label with the number 1 is also visible.
