The work is executed in a representational and illustrative style characteristic of 20th-century British railway art. At the lower right, there is an inscription in block capitals reading G. W. MERSEYSIDE TO LONDON. The artwork is housed in a glazed, dark wood frame with a gilt inner slip and a cream mount.
