Lot 1044: A Group of Furniture Including a 20th-Century Oak Bureau Bookcase and a Mid-Century Modern Style Cabinet
This lot comprises a group of assorted furniture pieces. The central item is a 20th-century oak bureau bookcase in a traditional style. The upper section features twin glazed doors with leaded rectangular panes, opening to reveal shelving. Below, a fall-front bureau opens to a fitted interior consisting of open pigeonholes and a small central drawer above an inset writing surface. The lower section is configured with two long drawers fitted with decorative metal drop handles, supported by turned front legs and square-section rear legs joined by a lower shelf stretcher. Also included in the group is a mid-century modern style teak-finished cabinet unit, featuring an upper display section with sliding glass doors over a base with three drawers and a cupboard door. A third significant piece is a darker oak dresser in the Gothic-revival taste, with an upper leaded glass section featuring geometric panes and a base section with carved foliate panels and an arcaded frieze. No maker’s marks or stamps are visible on the items.
