Lot 319: Two Items: A Wooden Millinery Hat Block and a Circular Storage Box
A millinery hat block of carved wooden construction, together with a circular storage box. The crown block features a domed top and a flat circular base containing three recessed mounting holes. The surface exhibits a heavily weathered appearance with dark staining and significant patina from professional use. The associated circular box is made of bentwood with a hinged lid and metal clasp. The lid bears a faded polychrome graphic illustration depicting a stylised figure in mid-20th-century dress. No manufacturer markings are present.
Condition report:
Both items show significant signs of age and industrial use. The hat block has extensive surface staining, abrasions, and a dark patina. The box displays surface wear, staining, and fading to the lid illustration. The metal components show some oxidation and surface wear consistent with age.
