Lot 354: An Assortment of 20th-Century Decorative Ceramics and Tableware
A group of assorted earthenware and porcelain items including various tableware and decorative pieces. The lot features a large earthenware covered cheese or butter dish on a matching rectangular stand, decorated with floral sprigs in shades of pink, yellow, and orange on a cream ground, finished with an ornate moulded handle. Also included is a square-form bowl with a polychrome border featuring geometric and floral motifs in orange, blue, green, and yellow.
The collection of plates and saucers contains various designs, including a blue and white transfer-printed plate depicting a mountainous landscape with a chalet-style building; a porcelain plate with a wide cobalt blue rim and central fruit spray; a round scenic plate depicting a cathedral with a tall spire; a square cream-ground plate with Art Deco style orange and yellow floral corner decorations; and a shaped-edge plate with delicate floral sprays and grey scrollwork.
Further items include a ceramic mug decorated with vibrant poppy or anemone flowers and partial text reading KETTLE, a miniature handled basket with floral decoration and a gilt rim, and various white glazed saucers and bowls. One white saucer base bears a green circular mark surmounted by a crown and the hand-painted or stamped number 410 below; other factory marks are faint or illegible.
Condition report:
The items show signs of wear consistent with age and use. Notable crazing is present to the glaze of the covered cheese dish. Surface scratching, minor gilt wear, and general manufacturing imperfections are present across the lot. No major chips or structural repairs are immediately evident from a visual inspection.
