Lot 461: A Collection of SylvaC Matte Glaze Ceramic Dog Figurines and Novelty Wares
A collection of vintage ceramic figurines and novelty wares produced by SylvaC, Stoke-on-Trent. The items are crafted from moulded ceramic featuring the manufacturer’s signature matte satin glaze in naturalistic tan and pale green tones. The group includes a seated Spaniel figurine, matching Spaniel puppies, a Scottish Terrier, and a small standing terrier. The novelty wares comprise a circular pale green dish with a ribbon-motif and centred dog figure, a curved log-form trough or planter with an applied green dog figure, and a novelty vase in the shape of a watering can with an applied green dog figure.
Visible factory markings include the incised model number 2277 and a SylvaC Made in England stamp to the base of the large Spaniel. The curved log trough is incised with the SylvaC name and model number 1479. The green circular dish bears a SylvaC England stamp.
