Lot 517: An Assortment of Vintage Style Artistic Nude Photography and a Bing & Grøndahl Porcelain Plate
An assortment of items comprising three framed artistic nude photographs and one decorative porcelain plate. The circular porcelain plate was manufactured by Bing & Grøndahl, Copenhagen. It features a blue ombre ground decorated with a black line drawing of The Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen harbour. The reverse bears the printed factory mark Copenhagen Porcelain B&G Made in Denmark, numbered 8502/619, and titled Den Lille Havfrue, København and The Little Mermaid, Copenhagen in both Danish and English.
The collection includes three framed photographs in the early 20th-century Belle Époque or Art Deco studio style. One monochrome photograph depicts a reclining female nude figure posed on a patterned textile, housed in a light brown wood frame with tan mount and gilt fillet. Two sepia-toned photographs include a portrait of a semi-nude woman with a pearl necklace leaning over a classical urn, and a head-and-shoulders portrait of a woman in a headband and necklace gazing upwards. These two sepia prints are housed in matching dark wood-effect frames with modern easel-back supports and hanging loops.
