Lot 544: A pair of Carl Zeiss Jena DDR Jenoptem 8x30w binoculars and leather case
This pair of Carl Zeiss Jena Jenoptem 8x30w binoculars was manufactured in the former German Democratic Republic (DDR) circa 1986. The binoculars feature a traditional Porro prism design with a metal chassis and a black pebbled-texture synthetic grip covering. The left ocular plate is marked with the Carl Zeiss Jena lens-shaped logo, the model name Jenoptem, the 8x30w specification, and the multi-coated designation. The right ocular plate features the DDR mark above a second Carl Zeiss Jena logo. The central hinge cap is incised with the serial number 6528649. The optics include multi-coated glass lenses, evidenced by purple and amber anti-reflective coatings. The unit is fitted with a central focus wheel and an adjustable right eyepiece. The binoculars are accompanied by an original brown leather hard-sided carrying case featuring a chrome-finished spring-loaded clasp and a leather shoulder strap.
