Lot 566: A Collection of Hornsea Pottery Heirloom Pattern Stoneware Tableware
A collection of Hornsea Pottery stoneware tableware in the Heirloom pattern, designed by John Clappison. The pieces feature a mid-century modern aesthetic with a colour palette of dark brown and cream. The decoration includes a transfer-printed stylised repetitive scroll pattern on a cream ground, while other components are finished in a solid matte dark brown glaze. The assortment includes a large lidded tureen with a patterned lid, a solid brown glazed jug, and several small bowls with integral lug handles. Also included are multiple stacks of plates in various sizes, featuring the cream-ground rim with the repeating brown scroll border. A paper lot sticker for Liskeard Auction Rooms (Lot 566) is attached to the tureen lid.
Condition report:
The items appear to be in good used condition from a visual overview. No large chips, cracks, or obvious repairs are visible on the uppermost pieces. Minor surface scratches and light wear consistent with age and domestic use are to be expected.
