Lot 595: Antique G.H. Gledhill and Sons Mechanical Cash Till Patent No 74484
An antique mechanical cash till manufactured by G.H. Gledhill and Sons Ltd. of Trinity Works, Halifax, Yorkshire. This manual record-keeping register is housed in a dark-stained hardwood case and was designed for retail use to document sales and secure currency. The top of the unit features a metal viewing window through which transaction details were written onto an internal paper roll. A metal manufacturer’s plaque is riveted to the top, inscribed G. H. GLEDHILL and SONS LTD. PATENTEES TRINITY WORKS No 74484 HALIFAX. Inside the lid is an original paper label providing instructions for ordering replacement till coils from the makers. The interior contains the mechanical spooling system with a partial ruled paper coil currently in place. The till is equipped with a partitioned cash drawer featuring a decorative metal handle and a locking mechanism.
