Lot 629: A mid-20th-century Murano-style hand-blown glass clown playing a concertina
A mid-20th-century hand-blown art glass figurine in the Murano style, depicting a standing clown playing a concertina. The figure features a translucent green top hat, applied yellow hair, and a white glass face with a red nose and smile. The clown wears a ruffled collar in graduated shades of orange and yellow glass. The body is formed from clear glass containing multi-coloured internal frit decoration and is adorned with three applied cobalt blue glass buttons. The concertina is rendered in black glass with white stripe detailing. The figurine is supported by two oversized black glass boots. No maker’s marks, signatures, or acid-etched stamps are visible on the glass. The item currently bears a paper auction tag from Liskeard Auction Rooms for Lot 629.
