Buyer's Premium:

This lot comprises a mid-19th-century blue and white transfer-printed earthenware platter by Copeland and Garrett and two relief-moulded ceramic jugs. The large, oval serving platter features a scalloped rim and a central pastoral scene depicting classical ruins with a stone archway, a river, and figures tending cattle and sheep. The border is decorated with a complex floral, foliate, and scroll pattern. The underside of the platter features a blue printed mark with a crown above a circular band reading Copeland and Garrett with New Blanche to the centre. There is also a corresponding circular impressed mark with the same text. The two jugs are of baluster form with ornate, scrolled handles and feature high-relief moulded scenes of classical or mythological figures against a textured ground. Both jugs are finished with blue sponged decoration and copper-coloured lustre highlights.
