Buyer's Premium:

Two Japanese porcelain dishes from the Meiji period, late 19th century, decorated in the traditional Imari palette of underglaze cobalt blue, overglaze iron-red enamels, and gilding. The first dish is of scalloped form, featuring a central composition of overlapping folding fans (sensu). These fans are decorated with varying motifs, including blue mountain landscapes, floral bamboo sprays, and geometric diaper patterns such as seigaiha (wave pattern). The outer border consists of a repeating diamond geometric design in green, blue, and red. The second dish is circular, divided into six radiating panels around a central floral medallion. These panels alternate between stylized mythical birds (ho-ho) in orange and gold against a dark blue ground, and scenes depicting a female figure (bijin) in a boat amidst floral sprays. Both dishes have hand-written vendor labels attached to the front reading Vendor 1924 / Oriental Dish. One dish also carries an auction label for Liskeard Auction Rooms, Lot 680.
