Lot 895: A Queen Anne style upholstered open armchair with shepherd's crook arms
A Queen Anne style open armchair constructed from walnut or walnut-stained hardwood. The chair features a padded cartouche-shaped back above a broad, overstuffed seat. It is characterised by distinctive shepherd’s crook arms that sweep down in a continuous curve to meet the seat frame. The chair is supported by two front cabriole legs decorated with carved shell motifs at the knees and terminating in pad feet, with two plain splayed legs to the rear. It is upholstered in a machine-woven floral tapestry fabric depicting acanthus leaves and large blossoms in a muted palette of sage green, blush pink, and ochre. No permanent maker’s marks or stamps are visible.
