Lot 916: A British Mid-Century Modern Bow-Fronted Sideboard and Cocktail Cabinet
A mid-century modern bow-fronted sideboard and cocktail cabinet, circa 1950s/60s, characteristic of the British kitsch or Space Age style. The piece features a two-tone finish, contrasting high-gloss wood-grain veneer on the top and sides with a lighter, marbled decorative laminate on the central panels and upper trim. The top edge is accented with a gold-toned mesh decorative border. The central section is configured with a fall-front cocktail cupboard above a single drawer, the latter being partitioned into three sections and lined with red felt. Flanking the central section are two curved cupboards, each containing a single shelf. The unit is fitted with gold-toned metal bar handles and is supported by four tapered wooden legs finished with brass-toned ferrules. No maker’s marks are visible.
