Lot 510: A Group of Framed Miniature Prints After Frans Hals, Jean-Marc Nattier, and Jean-Baptiste Greuze
A group of framed vintage miniature prints, featuring reproductions of significant works by Old Master painters, several of which are identified as part of the Wallace Collection. This collection, likely originally manufactured as a set of art coasters or placemats, includes prints after ‘The Laughing Cavalier’ by Frans Hals (Dutch, c.1582-1666), ‘La Comtesse de Tillières’ after Jean-Marc Nattier (French, 1685-1766), and ‘Mlle. Sophie Arnould’ after Jean-Baptiste Greuze (French, 1725-1805). Each work is presented in an octagonal frame finished with a faux-burl wood-grain effect and bordered with a decorative multi-coloured braided cord. The items feature small printed identification labels either to the front or the reverse, including titles and Wallace Collection catalogue numbers such as 453 and 403. This group of miniature prints is stylistically consistent with vintage art coasters produced by Manufacturas Hema.
Condition report:
The collection is in good condition overall. Some frames exhibit minor fraying and loose threads to the woven cord borders. General light surface wear and age-related markings are visible across the items.
