Lot 537: A Vintage Technical Drawing Instrument Set with an Empire Stopwatch in Fitted Case
A collection of technical drafting instruments and a timepiece presented in a fitted case. The set includes various instruments constructed from polished silver-toned metal, likely nickel-plated steel or brass. These components include a large pair of dividers with an interchangeable head, a spring-bow compass, two ruling pens with fluted handles, and several extension bars and points. A small paper label pinned to the interior lining bears the handwritten inscription Paul Mottram 154 cc. Accompanying the instruments is an open-faced timepiece, possibly a stopwatch or small pocket watch. The dial is marked Empire at the twelve o’clock position and features Arabic numerals from one to twelve with a subsidiary dial at the six o’clock position. The items are housed in a rectangular, folding hard-shell case with a deep red velvet-lined interior featuring recessed compartments. The exterior is finished in a dark, textured leatherette or similar fabric.
