Lot 258: A vintage Alba Model 44 portable transistor radio with original box
An Alba Model 44 portable transistor radio, manufactured in Britain. The unit is housed in a rectangular case finished in a red Rexine-style textured fabric with dark grey side panels. The front features a gold-toned horizontal band printed with the manufacturer name ALBA and the word transistor. Below this is a gold-toned mesh speaker grille. The top surface contains two large circular dials protected by clear plastic covers; the left dial is for tuning across Medium and Long wavebands, while the right dial controls power and volume. A central slide switch is positioned between the dials for waveband selection. The radio is accompanied by its original cardboard shipping box, which displays the Alba logo and specifies the model number.
Condition report:
The radio is in fair vintage condition with visible surface dust and wear to the red fabric covering, especially along the edges. The gold-toned metal elements show some patination and minor marks. The original cardboard box is in poor condition, exhibiting significant tearing, creases, and structural weakness. The item has not been tested for operational functionality.
